CEO at Securities Depository Center (SDC) Jordan
Sarah Tarawneh is a Director of the ANNA Management Body, contributing to the governance, risk, legal and compliance activities of ANNA, as well as oversight of Technology/Cybersecurity topics.
Having worked at the The Securities Depository Center (SDC) for 20 years, Sarah brings a depth of central depository experience and high legislative knowledge to this role. During this period, she has been involved in the business processes of the depository, clearing and settlement agency in Jordan. Sarah has contributed to the drafting of legislation governing such operations, whilst ensuring overall adherence to the best practices and International standards governing the Capital Market industry and CSDs.
Sarah is the CEO of the SDC of Jordan, the sole entity entitled to register securities, handle clearing and settlement for traded securities and provide post-trade services to investors. It is also the designated numbering agency in Jordan. Sarah oversees the day- to day business and execution of the SDC’s responsibilities, and she leads all the administrative, financial and technical affairs of the SDC.
Prior to her appointment as the CEO for SDC, Sarah was the Director of Legal affairs at SDC and was assigned to manage research and public relations. Earlier she worked as a licensed lawyer with a private law firm specializing in commercial and civil law consultations.
Sarah is an alumnus of the University of Jordan, Bachelor of Law, she is also a licensed barrister from the Jordanian Bar Association. Sarah has completed numerous Capital market specialized courses and holds a professional certificate from the CFA institute “Investment Foundations Program”.
