The Association of National Numbering Agency (ANNA) wins ‘Best Reference Data Provider’ at the Waters Technology Inside Market Data and Inside Reference Data awards 2025

London, 6 June 2025: We are delighted to announce that the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) has won ‘Data Reference Data Provider’ for the ANNA Service Bureau (ASB) at the Waters Technology Inside Market Data and Inside Reference Data awards 2025.

Awarded at the Technology & Data in Financial Markets event in New York, these awards recognize initiatives, innovation, technology and services across the market and reference data domains, including ESG and alternative data, corporate actions data, data analytics, evaluated pricing data, research, data management tools, and managed data services.

ANNA is the central membership organisation for global national numbering agencies serving as the identification and registration authority for the International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) and Financial Instrument Short Name (FISN standards), under appointment by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

The ASB is the central data hub that collects and enriches securities identification data from global National Numbering Agencies (NNAs) making it available to other ANNA members, authorities and financial market participants. The ASB is the golden source of global financial and referential instrument identification data, offering the only-directly-sourced compilation of ISIN codes and
associated reference data worldwide.

The ASB provides single-point access to standardised identifier data that supports organisations to meet their regulatory requirements and assists authorities with their supervisory functions.

Stephan Dreyer, Managing Director for ANNA, said: “We are honoured to receive this award, especially given the strong competition this year. Identifier standards that promote transparency and efficiency in markets globally are constantly evolving and fundamental to operational and governance success. The ASB therefore continues its developmental journey to ensure that all market participants can access trusted and consolidated financial instrument identifier data. We are truly delighted to have our efforts recognised in this way.”

The ASB supports the range of ISO identifier standards for financial instruments, providing global coverage across 200 jurisdictions and access to over 125 million ISIN records at the time of this award.

About ANNA
The Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) is a global member association seeking to foster standardisation within the financial industry by upholding the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) principles and by promoting ISIN, FISN and CFI codes for financial instruments. This is achieved through ongoing, collaborative work with market participants, regulators and other standards bodies.

Under ANNA’s stewardship, the role of the ISIN in enabling global financial communications has been established worldwide. Founded in 1992 by 22 numbering agencies, today ANNA’s membership continues to grow, with more than 120 global members and partners allocating ISIN, FISN and CFI codes on behalf of their local jurisdictions. By putting in place rigorous governance around the development, allocation and sharing of ISIN, FISN and CFI codes, ANNA helps facilitate open, transparent markets diminishing barriers to access, while protecting the integrity of the standards. As a result, ISIN has become the recognised global standard for unique identification for all types of financial and referential instruments, helping to connect and protect global markets.

In addition, ANNA has established the Derivatives Service Bureau (DSB), a fully automated global numbering agency to meet the specific operational and regulatory requirements of the over-the-counter derivatives markets.
