In this last newsletter of 2023, we reflect on an excellent year of progress for ANNA and our industry. 

In June we welcomed Cristina Ribó Sörensen as a new Director in the ANNA Board, and Torsten Ulrich of WM Datenservice succeeding Dan Kuhnel of Euroclear as ANNA Chair. October saw the DSB launch the Unique Product Identifier (UPI) and ANNA issued the first set of ISINs for crypto assets. We were also delighted to win ‘Best Standards Solution for Data Management’ at the Data Management Insight Awards USA at the beginning of the Autumn. 

ANNA has also been proud to sponsor and contribute to many events this year including Digital Assets Week in London and Singapore, the European Blockchain Convention in Barcelona, CCDAS in London and the International Financial Standards Conference (IFSC) in Frankfurt.

Q&A with Denis Dounaev,  Product Owner, Digital Token Identifier Foundation (DTIF)
ANNA has partnered with the Digital Token Identifier Foundation (DTIF) to introduce new ISINs for crypto assets identification, enhancing automation in ISO standard registries. We recently talked to Denis Dounaev, Product Owner at DTIF, and he shared insights into financial standards’ role in improving transparency. He highlighted the DTI’s significance, the collaboration between DTIF and ANNA, emphasising the pivotal role of standards in the global marketplace.

MARKET UPDATE

DSB Launches the Unique Product Identifier UPI Service
The Derivatives Service Bureau launched the Unique Product Identifier UPI Service on 16th October 2023. Firms are able to create and search for UPIs following the completion of their onboarding. The DSB has worked in collaboration with authorities and industry to meet this important milestone and encourages the industry to utilise the service and prepare for the start of UPI reporting requirements.

DSB Metrics for September 2023
OTC derivative reference data creation and search trends for the month ending September 2023 are now available to viewon the DSB website. 

DSB announces inclusion of Alternative Underlier IDs to search for or create UPIs
This enhancement follows the implementation of the DSB’s reference data solution provided in partnership with The ANNA Service Bureau (ASB) and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) as reference data providers and with SmartStream as a reference data aggregator.

First crypto assets issued with international securities identification numbers
ANNA and DTIF were featured in a recent article in The Banker which details the latest phase of our joint task force.
