Setting Standards For A New Asset Class | CCDAS 2023

ANNA and the Digital Token Identifier Foundation (DTIF) participated in a discussion on the growing importance of standards and identifiers in the evolving digital assets market. The conversation explored how traditional finance and digital assets are increasingly converging, creating new requirements for consistent identification, classification, and reporting across global markets.

During the discussion, Stephan Dreyer – ANNA’s Managing Director highlighted ANNA’s ongoing work to ensure that established financial standards, including ISINs, remain fit for purpose in the digital asset environment. It was noted that while traditional financial instruments issued on distributed ledger technology continue to align with existing standards, new types of crypto assets and tokenized instruments require additional approaches to support transparency, compliance, and risk management.

The discussion also addressed the role of the Digital Token Identifier (DTI) standard in uniquely identifying digital tokens and supporting interoperability across blockchain ecosystems. Together, ANNA and the DTIF are working to ensure that the ISIN and DTI standards complement one another, enabling more efficient data management, regulatory reporting, and market oversight.

Participants further emphasized the growing importance of international standards as regulators, exchanges, and financial institutions continue to advance digital asset frameworks globally. The adoption of standardized identifiers was highlighted as a key component in supporting trust, operational efficiency, and the future development of tokenized financial markets.
